Reading with a clear sense of purpose in mind always improves our reading, but different disciplines read differently and hence read for different purposes. Students actually need to be taught multiple ways to approach their reading. We will examine the different approaches of different disciplines and then touch on methods that might help set purpose for readers in your classroom.
